SPLAT PACK

The Splat Pack is a collection of filmmakers who, since 2002, have rekindled horror film. The term was coined by Alan Jones of Total Film. The group has been credited with bringing back ultra-violent movies, as well as moving away from PG-13 rated movies and into the R-rated spectrum, all while operating with low budgets. The members have repeatedly clashed with the MPAA board over the content of their work but nevertheless continue to find substantial box-office success.

ELI RAPHAEL ROTH


ELI RAPHAEL ROTH: born - april 18th 1972
  • American film director, producer, writer and actor.
  • He is part of the group of filmmakers dubbed the Splat Pack, because of their association and their focus on the horror genre.
  • Roth is known for making extremely violent, low-budget horror box office hits, and for bringing the "Hard R" horror film to cinemas. Roth's films have been worldwide box office and DVD hits, despite their lack of budgets and stars.

GEORGE A.ROMERO


GEORGE A. ROMERO: born - february 4th 1940
  • American director, writer, editor and actor.
  • He is best known for his Dead Series of five horror movies featuring a zombie apocalypse theme and commentary on modern society.

ALFRED HITCHCOCK


ALFRED HITCHCOCK: born - 13th august 1899
died - 29th april 1980
  • British filmmaker and producer who pioneered many techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres
  • Hitchcock directed more than fifty feature films in a career spanning six decades. He remains one of the best-known and most popular filmmakers of all time.
  • The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded Hitchcock the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, in 1967. His other Oscar nominations were:
    Best Director in 1960 for Psycho.
    Best Director for Rebecca (1940), Lifeboat (1944), Spellbound (1945), and Rear Window (1954).
    Producer for Best Picture: Suspicion (1941).
    Rebecca, which Hitchcock directed, won the 1940 Best Picture Oscar for its producer David O. Selznick. In addition to Rebecca and Suspicion, two other films Hitchcock directed, Foreign Correspondent and Spellbound, were nominated for Best Picture.
    Hitchcock is considered the Best Film Director of all time by The Screen Directory. Hitchcock was knighted in 1980.
